本片对;人S恋"的禁忌性主题作出颇为大胆的探讨，虽然故事的说服力有限，但却对观众习以为常的思考作出有力的挑战。女主角演出十分卖力，黑猩猩的表演也出奇的好，但基于东西方文化之间差异，大岛渚的表现不如他平常执导日片时的水准。
