After serving two years on a military outpost in the middle of an ocean – four soldiers are waiting for a new crew to replace them. When the long-awaited boat finally appears, it’s empty with no relief on board. When trying to find out what happened to the boat and the missing crew, they realize they’ve lost all communications with home. Cut off from the rest of the world and no one coming to get them, Baines, Sullivan, Cassidy and Hendryx must fight with suspicions about each other and find a new way to get home. 哲学系学生肖墨到殡仪馆实习，试图探寻“生死”答案，却遭遇导师陈辉离奇死亡。村里流传一口“应声井”可让人起死回生。陈辉之子死于事故后，陈辉在古井许愿，次日离奇失踪。肖墨随神秘殡葬师老白头返村调查，老白头以科学逐一破解“灵异”现象：井中尸体、养女上吊、浓雾里的鬼打墙等怪事背后皆是精心布局的骗局。当执念遭遇科学，谎言被真相撕裂，众人方知真正的深渊不在井里，而在人心。
